Dr. Shonta Smith, a native St. Louisan, professor and chair in the Elementary, Early and Special Education Department at Southeast Missouri State University, delivered the opening address of the Association of Teacher Educators national conference at the Hyatt Regency at The Arch on July 28.
Smith has served as a teacher, department head, coach, and principal with the respective St. Louis Public Schools, Normandy School District, and the Ferguson-Florissant School District.
She has a doctorate in Educational Leadership from St. Louis University, a master’s of Education in Counseling from the University of Missouri St. Louis and a Bachelor of Science in Education from Harris Stowe State University.
