Patrick Smith Sr. has been promoted to chairman and president of Ameren Illinois.
Smith, currently senior vice president of operations and technical services, oversees electric and natural gas field operations, engineering design, safety and reliability planning. He has been with Ameren for nearly four decades, beginning in 1985 as a meter reader.
A native of East St. Louis, Smith holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial and organizational psychology and an Executive MBA from Washington University.
He serves on several boards, including the United Way, College Bound STL, the American Cancer Society and the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis.
