St. Louisan Tarris Reed Jr. of UConn has been a pillar of strength throughout the NCAA Tournament.
The former Chaminade College Prep standout led the Huskies to a 67-63 victory over Michigan State in the Sweet 16 of the East Regional on Friday night in Washington, D.C.
The 6’11” Reed scored a game-high 20 points and also had five rebounds and four assists. He was eight of 16 from the field in 33 minutes of action. Reed also sealed the Huskies’ victory by making his free throws in the closing seconds.
Reed opened up the tournament with a record-setting performance against Furman in the first round. He scored 31 points and grabbed 27 rebounds to lead the Huskies to a 82-71 victory. He had 10 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks in UConn’s 73-57 victory over UCLA in the second round.
UConn, the No. 2 seed will face No. 1 seed Duke on Sunday in the regional finals. The winner will earn a berth to the Final Four next weekend in Indianapolis. Tip off is at 4 p.m. The game will be televised on KMOV-TV.
