Normandy Superintendent Michael Triplett and seven administrators, including the chief financial officer and the head of human resources, will depart the Normandy Schools Collaborative in a sweeping round of job cuts announced by the school board Tuesday.

According to minutes from an April 14 closed meeting, Triplett presented a letter to the board requesting a buyout for the remaining 15 months of his contract. The board approved the buyout and placed him on administrative leave effective immediately.

The Normandy Schools Collaborative has not been fully accredited by the state for more than a decade. Triplett was hired in 2023 to lead the district. Normandy returned to local control in 2022 with board member elections.

District leaders have not provided reasons for Triplett’s request for a buyout or released details about the departures. In a brief statement, the school board said: “The district remains committed to supporting its students, staff and families and ensuring the continued operation of all schools and programs without disruption.”

  1. You may just have to get somebody with a regular degree instead of getting all these folks with doctorates and they’re not doing any good and it’s been 10 years since you had accreditation

  2. I work there when Dr.Tripplet was brought in as the Superintendent and I was happy. Dr.Tripplet is a very strong educated Black man. He has a soft voice, but you could tell he knew his business. It sad our own race is against each other. The board focuses on him and some of the other long-term employees who have been there for years, but there are so many more problems that should have been focused on also. There are a lot of young parents who have children going to Normandy. Some of the parents’ children couldn’t do anything wrong. Then when they were taught about respecting each other, some of the parent want to curse and cuss the teacher and the director out. Normandy School District changed a long time ago and it had nothing to do with Dr.Tripplet.I work there and it wasn’t pretty either. No one was happy. Nothing but jealousy, and no respect for anyone.Too many clicks. And it wasn’t with Dr.Tripplet.The board chose a certain group, probably because they made a decent salary. But Normandy has been going down way before Dr Tripplet came. In my opinion, if they wanted to dismiss people because they were smart, honest, and intelligent, then they should have gone through all the departments. Remember I work there. A lot of those people were dismissed, and they truly descent honest people who really care about the children. Remember it takes a village to raise our children and that village is so very different from when I was coming up. All of us should be praying to our Lord for strength and courage. We all want to be understood, but want to be understanding to each other. In other words, we want respect, but don’t want to give it.

  3. Students in this district and others nearby in similar operational condition continue to struggle. The academic landscape in St. Louis County is eroding. Our districts has to look not just at who they’re hiring for leadership roles, but also the boards we appoint. Move to yearly administrative report cards and pay incentives following the achievement of specific results versus haphazardly entrusting the academic fate of our students to underperformed leadership.

  4. The overall performance of the Normandy Collaborative School district is trash. From the over crowded class sizes, response time of staff to parent concern, increased bullying and no accountability. The list is so long.
