Iconic St. Louis television personality Robin Smith is stepping away from the camera after nearly 40 years as an anchor and reporter for KMOV-TV.

She will retire at the end of this month.

According to KMOV.com, Smith’s retirement is coupled with news that Smith and her husband Isaac “Bud” Stallworth plan to share.

The St. Louis CBS affiliate also says that it plans to send Smith off with an on-air grand farewell that will begin at 10 a.m. next Friday.

Born and raised in St. Louis, Robin Smith is an Emmy award-winning News Anchor, Emmy-award winning News Reporter and the winner of the prestigious Edward R. Murrow for her reporting.

Her career as a broadcast journalist stretches back to 1973. She joined News 4 as an Anchor and Reporter on June 1, 1978.

“Countless viewers have literally grown up trusting in Robin’s honesty, integrity and experience as she has brought the story of the St. Louis region home to you,” Mike Murphy, VP, General Manager at KMOV 4 said in a statement on the station’s website KMOV.com . She will be missed and we look forward to enjoying a big celebration come Friday.”
