(St. Louis Public Radio) – The Missouri Development Finance Board is scheduled to vote Tuesday, Aug. 18, on whether to provide tax breaks to help fund a proposed new NFL stadium in St. Louis.
If approved, the state would provide $50 million in tax credits for the project, spread out over three years, including $15 million this year. It’s part of a revised stadium proposal that would cost $998 million, including $820 million for site clearance and construction.
Rams owner Stan Kroenke signaled his intent to move the team back to Los Angeles when he unveiled a proposal earlier this year to build a new stadium 12 miles from downtown LA in Inglewood. Meanwhile, a circuit judge in St. Louis struck down a local ordinance earlier this month that required a public vote on the use of tax dollars for a new stadium.
