The road to Black Friday is in full effect and being prepared and savvy on the best offerings is an important factor for those looking to save money on popular gifts for the holidays. Walmart is ready to help customers take on the biggest shopping day of the year with competitive shopping events to historic product guarantees.

Here are some tips for navigating the big day:

• Make a plan: To help customers prepare, a Black Friday local store map will be available to view and print on Walmart.com and local Walmart Facebook pages starting November 19. Also, for the first time, customers can view an interactive local store map on their mobile phone via the Walmart Mobile App, enabling customers to click on items to see the price, product description and location in the store.

• Know when you want to shop: This year, for those who like to start their Black Friday early, Walmart is kicking off their in-store specials at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day with a focus on gifts for the entire family from toys to gaming to home and apparel. • Know the availability of hot items: In addition to offering amazing low prices on the season’s top gifts, Walmart is taking the historic step to ensure items like the Apple iPad®2 are available during a special one-hour event on Thanksgiving. For customers who are inside the store and in the queue line between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. local time on Thanksgiving night, Walmart guarantees having the following electronics at special low prices: Apple iPad®2 16GB with Wi-Fi – $399 plus get a $75 Walmart Gift Card; Emerson® 32” 720p LCD TV – $148 and LG® Blu-ray™ Player – $38. This helps eliminate frustrations customers might if they get to the store for a hot item, only to find out it was available in limited quantities or sold out.

• Brush up on the deals: Aside from specific offerings for the big event, the retailer’s long-standing ad match guarantee will also be in effect on Black Friday. This allows customers to match the price of any local competitor’s printed ad for an identical product right at the cash register.
