SoSo Def chief and STL lover Jermaine Dupri was in town last weekend to help the city show love to what plenty of folks (including me) are anticipating as the next big name in hip-hop out of The Lou. Let me say that I know Fresco Kane is from the East side – and he proudly claims y’all – but you know he’s repping us both at the same time.
Anyway, the fact that the big boss JD came through the Lou to help him celebrate becoming a member of the SoSo Def family should let y’all know JD has faith in Fresco as an artist and his ability to leave an impression on the rap game. Shout out to the entire Starpower team for helping Fresco get put on in a major way!
But y’all came to hear about the party, didn’t you? Okay, well you know that JD was in the house Friday night at the Coliseum, but so were plenty of other heavy hitters, too. Chingy was in the building. Super promoters Mo Spoon, Keith from Koncepts, Triky from Close to Famous were in the house. Young Dip and Hot 104.1’s A-Plus rolled through. More local rap stars than I could name (like Jus Bleezy), NFL ballers and all types of folks came through the Coliseum to give the artist formerly known as Gena props for getting a deal with game changing hip-hop label. I can’t wait to see what happens with the album drops and the industry grabs hold!
