William F. Tate, the dean of the graduate school at Washington University, received the Inspiring Leaders in STEM Award from INSIGHT into Diversity magazine. The award recognizes professionals from underrepresented groups who have made advances in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education. As dean, Tate has worked to strengthen interdisciplinary graduate education and to encourage students of all kinds to consider STEM careers.Â
