TAKE TWO – Meet Me in St. Louis brings a burst of cabaret energy to Power Creative on Monday, February 2. The show pairs two powerhouse vocalists — Gospel Hall of Fame inductee Chuck Flowers and Roz White, who is currently touring as Miss Liza Jane in the Tony Award–winning Hell’s Kitchen, now at The Fabulous Fox through February 8.

The performance is a reunion of sorts for Flowers and White. The pair starred together in The Black Rep’s production of “Tell Me Somethin’ Good,” a musical revue that became a season favorite throughout the 1990s and early 2000s.

Now, the two will once again share the stage, blending their artistry through unforgettable solos and dynamic duets that stretch across genres.

“I’m an Americana singer,” Flowers said. “I can sing everything. I’m just as into Ella Fitzgerald as I am PJ Morton and Anthony Hamilton.”

“I come from the soul and jazz era,” he continued. “And I was raised around a lot of church friends, so everything got me — just as much as a show tune or a jazz tune.”

Flowers got his start performing with a gospel band in his early teens, which led to a feature in the gospel docu‑musical “Say Amen Somebody,” where he worked alongside elite artists like St. Louis’s own gospel legend Willie Mae Ford‑Smith.

Since then, he has toured locally headlining tribute shows, singing music from Ray Charles, Bill Withers, Nat King Cole and Donny Hathaway — whom Flowers calls his idol. He’s also toured internationally, performing two terms with the Golden Gospel Singers in Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Austria and France.

Flowers is not only a singer but an actor as well. He performed in “Tell Me Somethin’ Good” at The Black Rep, where he and White first met — and where the roots of this soul‑stirring evening of music and storytelling began.

“We came up with this theme because the two of us are coming together after so many years,” he said. “Roz and I are like brother and sister. We stayed in touch after the show and encouraged each other along our journey, so it just makes sense that we’d be doing this.”

“We kept saying we were gonna do it but then got busy,” he added. “So now we’re gonna sing some good music, have a good time and just celebrate each other.”

Though the musical landscape is changing, Flowers remains dedicated to live performance.

“I will always be a live performer,” he said. “I feed off live music, and I get a thrill when I see musicians who know my vibe and know where to take a song.”

“YouTube has a plethora of A.I. music — and the bad thing is it sounds good. But where can I see them live?”
