The Social Security Administration has implemented its new quick disability determination (QDD) process in Missouri’s disability determination services.

Under QDD, a model analyzes specific pieces of information within the electronic claims file to identify claims where there is a high potential that the person is disabled and where evidence of the person’s allegations can be quickly and easily obtained.

The Social Security Administration currently receives more than 60,000 new disability cases each year in Missouri.

In New England, where the QDD process was tested, QDD cases were processed in an average of 11 days. Since the model does not yet incorporate as many diseases as it can, the agency has committed to expanding the number of cases that can be identified as a QDD case while maintaining the same level of accuracy.
