The Missouri Water Patrol says a St. Louis man’s weekend death at Lake of the Ozarks was alcohol-related.
Officers say 24-year-old Gene Campbell fell into the lake Saturday night. Campbell was on a private dock in Lick Branch Cove, holding a boat steady when friends heard a splash
He was pulled from the water a short time later. A water patrol officer tried to revive him using CPR, but couldn’t.
Water Patrol Captain Matt Walz described Campbell as “very intoxicated.” Walz says alcohol is a common factor in summer fatalities at the lake.
Campbell’s death is the ninth at Lake of the Ozarks this season.
