St. Louis County Library (SLCL) and St. Louis Public Library (SLPL) are teaming up once again to present STL Summer Adventure, a fun-filled summer reading and exploration program for youth ages 0–17. The program runs June 1 through August 10 and offers exciting ways for young adventurers to stay engaged, creative, and curious all summer long.
This year’s adventure includes five activity tracks: Off the Page, Plants & Animals, Unplugged, Community, and Reading. Participants can choose from a wide range of activities like designing a new book cover, making an animal puppet, cooking a family recipe, visiting a local attraction, or diving into a good book. Completing just 10 activities earns a prize and a chance to win a grand prize raffle.
Everyone who registers receives a free book. Participants can track their progress online using Beanstack or with a printed reading log, available at all SLCL and SLPL locations and select partner organizations.
The fun kicks off with a celebration in Forest Park on Saturday, May 31, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. as part of the annual Play Day in the Park event. Expect music, performances, games, and more!
STL Summer Adventure also features hundreds of free events throughout the summer across both library systems—ranging from live music and comedy to science experiments, magic shows, and puppet theater. For a full calendar of events, visit slcl.org/events or slpl.org.
Last summer, over 39,000 kids and teens participated in the inaugural STL Summer Adventure. By offering a regional program, SLCL and SLPL make it easier than ever for families to access enriching summer learning opportunities—while building strong connections to the community’s vibrant educational and cultural institutions.
STL Summer Adventure is presented in partnership with Forest Park Forever, Gateway Arch, The Magic House, Missouri Botanical Garden, Missouri History Museum, Saint Louis Art Museum, Saint Louis Science Center, and the Saint Louis Zoo.
