Family members of the two men killed at a funeral service for David Davis in midtown St. Louis on Nov. 30 have found a place to hold the funeral services.

The services for Jason Finney, 31, and Trevlan Glass, 31, and will be held at Mount Zion Baptist Church. Finney and Glass were cousins.

For a week, the family members were struggling to find a location because many funeral homes and churches feared potential violence, family members said.

At first, police suspected gang activity, but later retracted the statement. Seven churches had rejected the families’ requests for services.

According to the police incident report, while Davis’ funeral was taking place inside of the Reliable Funeral Home on Washington Boulevard, an argument broke out involving Finney, Glass and a 35-year-old male, who was not identified in the police report. The three were attending the funeral, but they stepped outside of the home when the disagreement began.

The investigation revealed that the three knew each other and began shooting at one another. Finney and Glass were shot multiple times. The third man was also shot multiple times and was in critical condition when the report was released. Witnesses at the scene reported a fourth person was shot and ran from the scene prior to police arriving.

“If such a person was indeed involved and injured, he has not yet come forward,” the report stated. “It is unclear if this individual is a suspect and a victim or simply a victim.”

Finney had four children. The family said they just wanted closure that a proper burial would bring.
