Sharifah Jamal (nee Shirley Frazier) was born September 28, 1937, in St. Louis to Gladys & William Frazier Sr. She passed away Dec. 13, 2023, at the age of 86.
Mrs. Jamal graduated from Vashon High School in 1955 and later moved to San Francisco, Ca. There she met Ahmad Jamal, legendary jazz pianist. She and Mr. Jamal married and had a daughter, Sumayah. Their marriage ended but they remained friends.
Mrs. Jamal is survived by her daughter, Dr. Sumayah Jamal, grandchildren Zara and Omar; siblings Loree Myers, Charles Frazier, Alice Frazier, Darlene Frazier; and other family & friends.
