Rosie Lee Gillespie passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2005 in Coatopa, Alabama after complications from a fall from which she never recovered.
Ms. Gillespie was born in St. Louis and was graduated from Sumner High School. She attended Stowe Teachers College, was graduated from Tucker Business College and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Saint Louis University.
She taught for many years at the Banneker Elementary School in the St. Louis Public School System, from which she retired. She was continuously helping young people who were in college with financial assistance.
An active church member and a Sunday School teacher for many years, Ms. Gillespie was one of the first ordained elders at Third Presbyterian Church, USA of St. Louis.
