Jasmine Crockett is qualified, intelligent, and one of the most brilliant politicians of our time. Period.
She’s sharp, she’s bold and she’s unafraid to speak truth to power — even when it makes people uncomfortable. Maybe she shouldn’t have said out loud what a lot of Texans say behind closed doors. Maybe her passionate dissent keeps some folks from truly hearing her. But regardless of how you feel about her presentation, my issue is the double standard.
Crockett called Governor Greg Abbott “Governor Hot Wheels” during a Human Rights Campaign event — a jab, she later clarified, that was about his cruel policy of busing migrants into cities led by Black mayors, not his disability. Was it the best choice of words? No. But the immediate, loud and bipartisan backlash she faced has less to do with the comment itself and more to do with who said it.
Let’s rewind to 2015. Donald Trump, in full view of the world, mockingly flailed his arms while referencing journalist Serge Kovaleski, who has a disability. It was cruel, it was unmistakable and it was caught on camera. What happened next? Crickets from many of the same conservatives now calling for Crockett’s censure.
When Trump supporters labeled Joe Biden “Sleepy Joe,” hurled misogynistic insults like “Joe and the Ho,” and took every opportunity to demean the Obamas, where was that moral outrage?
Trump has 12 PhDs in name-calling. He’s poisoned the well of political rhetoric. From “birdbrain” Nikki Haley to “Lyin’ Ted Cruz,” he’s made personal attacks his political brand.
But now suddenly, the same folks who’ve cheered on every Trump insult are clutching their pearls and calling Crockett “unbecoming”?
Make it make sense.
Let’s be clear: none of it is okay. Not from Democrats. Not from Republicans. Not from anyone. But accountability only means something when it’s applied across the board — not just when it’s politically convenient.
Crockett is being dragged through the mud for one comment, while Trump was rewarded with the presidency after years of mocking, bullying and belittling.
That’s not accountability. That’s hypocrisy.
We absolutely should have conversations about tone, language and the importance of respectful political discourse. But we can’t let those conversations be lopsided. We can’t weaponize decency as a tool to silence Black women while excusing vile behavior from others because it fits a particular narrative.
Crockett can handle critique — she’s built for this. But if we’re going to hold her to a standard, we need to hold everyone to it. Fair is fair.
The real scandal isn’t what Crockett said. It’s how quickly people forget what’s been said — and done — by those they support. If we truly care about creating a respectful political culture, the work has to start with consistency. Not convenience.

The hypocrisy and selective outrage is embarrassingly revealing and is what undergirds the true intent and meaning of the behavior. The attempt to reason with individuals who have dispensed with humility and objectivity is futile.
It can be equated to conversing with someone who is suffering with dementia. They are not lucid, so when interacting with them it is necessary to be ever mindful of that fact.
We are not playing by the same rules, arguably no longer playing even the same game.
Elect a clown, expect a circus. However, nothing amusing here.
Amen!
No politician gets away with the insane comments the way Trump does, however, the average folk will look past it much more simply because he’s never pretended to be a typical politician. Call it hypocritical or whatever you will but Democrats have all along been equally outraged over Trump’s comments but look at you now!! Making excuses why it’s justified why she said what she said.
KC867309 – Ridiculous assertion. Crockett says the most racist things, reprehensible things, and she gets a pass. The moment she is question led about it, it’s implied that the questioning is racist. Trump has saved more black lives than BLM. But since you have been soaked in the dye of leftist propaganda, you turn the table and make it about Trump. Grow up.
Jasmine Crocket embarrasses me and I call almost assure you her family members must be embarrassed that the way she’s presenting herself. It’s embarrassing got a woman with her accomplishments and what she’s done in her life which is good stuff as far as like education wise and all that has done a 180 and now has totally abandoned her morals and and dignity and has the audacity to pretend that she’s something that she’s not like a thug a thug I’m talking about she’s claiming that she is gangster. Next time you see her notice her hand movements her gesture the way her face changes when she gets gangster. Mind you, this girl doesn’t have a gangster bone in her body . Her her parents can’t be proud at the way she’s presenting herself there’s no way of not then they’re weird too.
I don’t know how her family and her friends don’t pull her up and tell her that she is acting like a thug like or a gangster when she isn’t. One thing is if she truly was a gangster but, she isnt. It embarrasses me that other politicians from other nations have to hear her racist rhetoric and embarrassing statements. How could anyone vote for someone that isn’t even real to themselves. How could someone vote for someone that doesn’t even know who they are. I’ve seen some fake politicians in my life but damn it man Crockett takes the Cake. The best thing she could do right now is to not run for this office of senator because she’s going to be embarrassed and it’s going to dig her to the ground. She needs to go get her vocabulary up and her gangster up before she starts claiming anything. Something tells me that the people from the state which you called the deplorable might not want you to be the senator I don’t know maybe you see a differently. We do see life totally differently so yeah you probably think that you have a chance after calling them deplorable.
Honestly I am thrilled that it’s you that’s running for Santa for the great state of Texas I could now pay attention to the other 49 states and could pretty much guarantee 95 to 100% that the Republicans will be running the show in Texas thank you Crockett for guaranteeing that victory. Hahaha
