Saint Louis University continued its rise in the national rankings as it checked in at No. 19 in this week’s Associated Press college basketball polls.
The Billikens scored home court victories over George Washington and Dayton last week to run their current winning streak to 15 games. SLU is currently 21-1 and 9-0 in the Atlantic 10 Conference heading into Tuesday night’s game against Davidson in North Carolina.
Sophomore guard Trey Green was named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week after two sparkling performances against George Washington and Dayton.
Green averaged 23 points a game in the two victories while shooting 65 percent from 3-point range on 13 of 20 shooting from long distance. Green scored 23 points and made six 3-pointers in the Bills’ 79-76 victory over George Washington. He followed up with 23 points, four assists and seven 3-pointers in the 102-71 victory over Dayton.
Green currently leads the A-10 in 3-pointers made and 3-point shooting percentage. He joins teammates Kellen Thames, Quentin Jones and Amari McCottry as A-10 Player of the Week honorees.
