Four-star football high school football standout Jacob Eberhart of Kirkwood High has given a commitment to the University of Illinois.
A 6’3” 210-pound wide receiver/safety Jacob Eberhart chose Illinois over Oklahoma, Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma. In selecting the Fighting Illini, Eberhart will be continuing a family tradition of talented football players headed to Champaign.He is the son of the late Jason Eberhart, a former Mehlville High football star in the mid-1990’s who also played at Illinois.
As a junior, Eberhart was instrumental in helping the Pioneers to a 10-3 record and a berth in the Class 6 state semifinals. He finished the season with 42 receptions for 795 yards and 15 touchdowns.
It was during last year’s postseason when Eberhart took off with a string of dominant performances during the Pioneers’ dramatic run. He had eight receptions for 192 yards and two touchdowns in Kirkwood’s upset victory over CBC in the district championship game.
Eberhart followed up with seven catches for 158 yards and a touchdown in the Pioneers’ victory over Jackson in the sectional playoffs. In the semifinals, he had nine catches for 124 yards and a touchdown in the Pioneers loss to Nixa.
On the defensive side of the ball, Eberhart had 30 solo and 45 solo tackles with one quarterback sack and three interceptions.
