Bryce Salvador’s mentor and future hall-of-fame defenseman Al MacInnis was named vice president of hockey operations for the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday.
“We are honored to name Al (to this position),” said Blues President John Davidson. “His knowledge and awareness of the game are well respected in the NHL. He is a first class person and will play a major role in our quest to build a winner in St. Louis.”
MacInnis currently ranks third all-time among NHL defensemen in goals (340), assists (934) and points (1,274), and ranks sixth with 1,416 games played. He also ranks 12th all-time among NHL players in assists, tied for 29th in points and 19th in games played.
“I want to thank Dave Checketts and John Davidson for giving me this new opportunity with the Blues,” said MacInnis. “The club is important to me and it will be our priority to put a competitive team on the ice working towards the Stanley Cup.”
