John Burroughs girls basketball standout Moriyah Douglass has given a commitment to Texas Tech.
A 6’4” rising senior forward, Douglass made her announcement on her social media accounts on Thursday. She is rated the No. 5 prospect in the Prep Girls Hoops Missouri Class of 2026 rankings.
Douglass’ height and skill set have made her a coveted recruiting target for the past three years. She received more than two dozen scholarship offers from Division I programs around the country. She chose Texas Tech over schools such as Missouri, Gonzaga, Arkansas Marquette, Houston, Boston College, Penn and several others.
As a junior, Douglass was a Missouri Class 6 All-State selection after averaging 18 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks a game. As a sophomore in 2024, Douglass helped the Bombers to the Class 5 state championship as she averaged 9.7 points and 4.7 rebounds while blocking 33 shots.
Douglass is part of a prominent basketball family in the St. Louis area. Her grandfather, Monroe Douglass, was a former star prep player at McKinley and one of the top collegiate players in the history of Saint Louis University’s program. Her father, Monroe Douglas Jr. was a former standout player at Chaminade College Prep in the early 2000s.
