The Missouri Department of Transportation is reportedly planning to deploy LRAD sound cannons to slow down speeders in Missouri.

According to a report by Gizmodo.com, the “directed-sound communication devices”  that will be used can blast sound of up to 153 decibels directly at vehicles traveling above the posted speed limit. The devices will be set up primarily near road construction sites and will be used to deter Missouri speeders via audible warnings and sounds.

LRAD “accoustical weapons” have been used in the war in Afghanistan and protests such as Occupy Wall Street.
