The St. Louis American is one of a group of ten publications that comprise Word In Black.  This media collective is exploring the impact of racial healing:  a process that helps restore individuals and communities, repair damage caused by racism, and transform societal structures which impact the Black community.

As part of this exploration we’re conducting a “poll” to learn more about Black American perspectives on racial healing, including personal beliefs, perceived barriers, and potential solutions.

Please fill out this survey to let us know what you think of “racial healing”:

Many organizations, A Better Family Life, Action St. Louis, ArchCity Defenders, Chosen For Change Organization, Invest STL, Organization for Black Struggle, A Red Circle, United Way of Greater St. Louis, Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis continue to work in this space locally.   Local initiatives such as the St. Louis Regional Racial Healing + Justice Fund have helped push the needle forward in the St. Louis region for “Black, brown and people of color to live in an area that demonstrates core rights in housing, education, health, job/career options, policing, and more,” according to former Community Governance Board [CGB] member Ashley Winters.

St. Louisans and those in our region can help provide useful insight by filling out this survey which helps shape the national dialogue on racial healing.

  1. There are people and organizations sustained by levels of poverty, and others who belong to secret auxiliaries, fraternities, and other secret clubs, who don’t believe in equality or morality In communities of color, and they are melanated people themselves. I have watched it nearly 60 years, never changing to improve education, healthcare, housing, and the politics of the City of St. Louis. It remains segregated and astonishingly impoverished and violent. Racial Healing won’t happen anywhere in this country as long as you have a felon sitting in the White House.
