Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Cori Bush

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez stunned the political establishment when she unseated 10-term veteran incumbent Joe Crowley to become the Democratic Candidate for U.S. House of Representatives, NY-14. This weekend she is coming to St. Louis with the hopes of helping Cori Bush do the same.

On Saturday, Ocasio-Cortez will stump for Bush during her Birthday and GOTV (Get Out The Vote) Rally at The Ready Room.

Bush is campaigning in the hopes of unseating Rep. William Lacy Clay (D, MO-1) in the August 7 primary. Clay has held his seat since 2001, taking over that seat from his father, who held it since 1969.

Both Bush and Ocasio-Cortez are backed by a group started by former staffers of Bernie Sanders called Brand New Congress. They became friends through the group before Ocasio-Cortez's meteoric rise. Bush was one of the people Ocasio-Cortez thanked personally in her first tweet after learning she had won.

State Rep. Bruce Franks Jr. will also speak at the event .

Cori Bush Birthday and GOTV Rally will take place from 7p.m. – 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 21 at The Ready Room. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, visit
