Oh, by the way, Mayor Francis Slay waltzed to victory (with 24,930 votes) over the two other mayoral candidates on the ballot: Irene Smith (11,732) and Bill Haas (1,263). The only interesting thing about these results is that Haas’ percentage of the electorate casting votes tripled compared to his last mayoral bid n and this after a campaign during which he was outed as being (or having been) suicidal.
This could mean several things. St. Louis could be a city of compassionate voters willing to use their ballots to save a man’s life, or residents of local psychiatric centers could have voted in record numbers.
Incumbent Comptroller Darlene Green won unopposed, though she still ran a sprinkling of ads along the way to maintain her brand, which has never been in better shape.
