July 25, 1921 – November 15, 2005

William Henderson Jr. departed this life on Tuesday, November 15, 2005. He was the father of U.S. Marshal and St. Louis’s former Chief of Police Ron Henderson. He was also a proud member of the Buffalo Soldier’s Ninth Horse Cavalry. He was 85. He was buried at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.

Mr. Henderson was born in Cotton Plant, Arkansas on July 25, 1921 to William and Maggie Henderson. He was the youngest of three male children. He was succeeded in life by brothers Albert (Brusher) and Bloundell (Blon). Following his birth mother’s early homegoing, he was raised along with his brothers by his father and step-mother, Virgie, along with the constant intercession of his grandmother, “Ma Bell.”

William leaves to cherish his loving memory, his beloved and devoted wife, Eloise G. Henderson; two sons, Ronald (Peggy) and Daryl (Gwen); five daughters, Carol Powell (Robert), Sheron Coleman, Joyce Visor, Barbara Davis (Anthony) and Patricia Henderson; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family requested that donations be sent to the American Cancer Society (Prostrate Cancer Research), 4207 Lindell Blvd., St. Louis MO 63108.
