After an odd set of trade demands, restrictions and refusals, Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard came out Tuesday night and stated he wanted to remain with the Orlando Magic for the remainder of the season.

“I told those guys and I’ve been telling them for the past two or three weeks now that I’m going to stay and finish the season,” Howard said.

Howard had previously requested a trade but limited the teams he’d re-sign with to New Jersey, Dallas and Los Angeles.

Now Orlando is stuck between a rock and a hard place.  If they keep Howard, there’s a great chance he’ll leave via free agency next season.  But since his trade demands have become so public, potential trade partners will offer Orlando next to nothing-to-secure his services, especially without an ironclad agreement of Howard signing a long-term extension.
