St. Louis’ own Cedric the Entertainer says there’s only one soundtrack that gets him performance-ready: straight ’80s pop. Cedric is making his Broadway debut as Seth Holly in Joe Turner’s Come and Gone, starring opposite Taraji P. Henson in August Wilson’s classic set in a 1911 Pittsburgh boarding house during the Great Migration.
“I get on the floor and stretch and then I listen to music and it’ll vary depending on my mood,” Cedric explains. “I go back to the 80s pop. I’ve been listening to Tears for Fears and the Spandau Ballet, all that kind of stuff getting me vibed out.”Joe Turner’s Come and Gone originally opened on Broadway in 1988. It is the second of ten installments in Wilson’s American Century Cycle about the African American experience during the 20th century. Debbie Allen directs the revival. The play officially opened on April 25 and continues through July 26.

Tears For Fears / Everybody Wants To Rule The World and Spandau Ballet / True. I can totally dig it Cedric The Entertainer. Awesome songs.
I applaud our native StL member Ced on all of his accomplishments. I would however like to see more visits to the Lou to extend his followers. Luv me some him!!
