R&B legend Charlie Wilson shared that he suffered a series of strokes last year during a recent interview with veteran media personality Big Boy.
“I went to some shows, and I came back, and I was another person,” said Wilson, 73.
“My wife can catch it, just like that,” he added. “She said, ‘Something ain’t right wth you,’ and off to the hospital we went.”
Wilson told Big Boy that was the first time he had suffered “that many strokes, at the same time.”
“I knew God was with me and I knew my wife was praying every day, every hour of the day,” he said.
Wilson also shared that he had “just learned how to walk again,” adding that it took him six months to re-learn.
“I am not finished yet, I’ve got a long way to go,” Wilson said, adding, “I’m still who I am, vocally.”
The singer recently made his return to the stage, appearing at the AFRAM music festival in Baltimore in June.
“I don’t know if y’all know what happened to me, but I had some strokes,” Wilson said during his performance, according to People.com. “Feels like God has truly, truly blessed me.”
