Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs on Wednesday was found guilty on two of five charges in a Manhattan federal courtroom and could face up to 20 years in prison.
Combs was found guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution in his federal sex-trafficking and racketeering conspiracy trial.
He was found not guilty of racketeering conspiracy or two counts of sex trafficking, charges that could have landed him in prison for life.
Casandra ‘Cassie’ Ventura’s lawyer released a statement shortly after the verdicts were read.
Douglas H Wigdor, said: “This entire criminal process started when our client Cassie Ventura had the courage to file her civil complaint in November 2023.”
“Although the jury did not find Combs guilty of sex trafficking Cassie beyond a reasonable doubt, she paved the way for a jury to find him guilty of transportation to engage in prostitution.
“By coming forward with her experience, Cassie has left an indelible mark on both the entertainment industry and the fight for justice.”
“We must repeat – with no reservation – that we believe and support our client, who showed exemplary courage throughout this trial.”
Combs’ attorney said his client should be released from the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn today. He has been held there since his arrest by federal authorities in September 2024.
“Mr. Combs has been given his life by this jury,” said attorney Marc Agnifilo.
“He treasures, I assure you, the opportunity that he has been given, and he will not run afoul of anything this court imposes on him,” he said.
