Actor and comedian Faizon Love is facing two contempt of court charges in a child support case involving his ex, Tiffany Lee, who alleges he owes about $250,000 in unpaid support.

During recent proceedings, Love described significant financial strain. He reportedly told the court he earns about $10,000 a year in royalties from Elf, drives a 1999 vehicle, and has at times lived out of it.

The case follows Love’s arrest in California earlier this month. He reportedly spent 16 days in custody before being transported to Florida in connection with the contempt orders.

His attorney said Love “was picked up in Riverside County, California and transported some days later to Hillsborough County on orders of contempt from the Honorable Judge Mark Kiser.”

Love was released from custody on Monday, June 22, as the case continues. Additional hearings are expected as both sides address the child support dispute.
