Former Juice Crew members MC Shan and Roxanne Shante are seeking new talent to help reorganize the legendary hip-hop group. Formed in the mid 1980s by producer Marley Marl and his label, Cold Chillin’ Records, the original Juice Crew is best known for their classic, “The Symphony.” The original team included Marley Marl, Kool G. Rap, Biz Markie, Big Daddy Kane, Craig G., Masta Ace, Roxanne Shante and MC Shan. According to Shan, the new Crew will be an alternative to today’s emcees. “The new Juice Crew will be something different; not the ‘I slang drugs, I got jewelry’ rhymes; it’ll be more talented artists,” the rapper said. “We can make it any ole’ crew, but we want to make it something people know so it can carry on the legacy of the original crew.”
