Jay-Z didn’t hold back during his headlining set at The Roots Picnic in Philadelphia on May 30. Hov took aim at major artists — including Kanye West and Nicki Minaj — who previously came for him on social media or on tracks as tens of thousands packed the Belmont Plateau. The fifty-six-year-old rapper reunited with The Roots 25 years after their MTV Unplugged collaboration and used the moment to get responses to their previous shots off his chest.
“That lady back on that stuff, she sounds like she’s in love with ’em / Her Ken can’t even… pick they kid… enough of them / A rapper can’t be my opp, I got MAGA Republicans,” he rapped, a clear shot at Minaj.
Jay also addressed West’s past online attacks on Beyoncé and their children.
“You ever heard of wonder-kin? My children are some of them,” Jay-Z rapped. “You really wanna get under my skin? I’ll really get under ya skin (stab), ask Un how I’m playing.”
