Kevin Hart and Katt Williams surprised comedy fans when they put their longstanding beef to rest Sunday night at The Roast of Kevin Hart, held at Los Angeles’ Kia Forum as part of the Netflix Is a Joke Festival.

Williams was a surprise among the A-list roasters, who included Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Lizzo and Teyana Taylor, to name a few. Williams said he only took the gig for the money.

“I won an Emmy Award, but this is gonna be my best acting tonight as I pretend you are a GOAT,” Williams said.

He also joked about the origins of their beef. “Privately, this [expletive] stole everything from me,” Williams said. “Before he saw my act, he was a 6-foot-3 white man.”

Hart then jumped up and addressed Williams directly.

“Me and this man have been at odds for years and years. You coming out here is quite the [expletive] surprise,” Hart said. “But Katt, I can sit and watch and laugh because I’m a [expletive] fan, OK? Katt, we have an opportunity in real time — this is live television — to put our [expletive] beef behind us. I am offering you an olive branch of peace. I want to be your brother; I want to be your friend. Katt, can we move on?”

The two then embraced as the crowd rose to their feet.
