Nonprofit Services Center will host a Missouri Budget Forum at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center, 975 North Warson Rd., 8:30-11:45 a.m. on Friday, February 5.
With the theme “2010 State Budget: Impact and Response,” the event will feature a panel of members from the Missouri Legislature serving on the Missouri budget committee and executives from departments of Social Services, Health & Senior Services and Economic Development.
Panelists will discuss the impetus for the proposed budget cuts and the resulting impact on federal stimulus funds available to the State.
The morning will begin with a discussion of the current budget situations and the impact on the nonprofit sector of $590 million in state budget cuts so far this fiscal year and projected state revenue shortfalls of $450 million for fiscal year 2011.
Scheduled panelists include Ron Levy, director, Department of Social Services; Margaret Donnelly, director, Department of Health & Senior Services; and Ann Perry, finance manager, Department of Economic Development.
Following the panel discussion, NSC will host a session on “Becoming an Advocate.” Amy Blouin and Candace Iveson from the Missouri Budget Project will teach participants to become an advocate for theirr organization, case or cause.
