The Bakari Institute was awarded $245,600 in tax credits from the Missouri Department of Economic Development for its Heritage Plaza Youth Development Project.
The African-centered cultural arts youth agency in the Hyde Park neighborhood of North St. Louis received $120,600 from DED’s Youth Opportunities Program to fund operational expenses for after-school programs and $125,000 to fund capital improvements to its facility.
Tax credits carry twice the value of traditional donations of more than $1,000 as donors can deduct 50 percent of contributions off state taxes.
