The St. Louis Housing Authority recently welcomed former Arthur A. Blumeyer public housing residents with keys and welcome kits for their new townhomes and apartments in the revitalized community renamed Renaissance Place at Grand. The new homes, which are located on Delmar Blvd. between Compton and Josephine Baker, are nearly 100 percent occupied. Adjacent blocks are also filling up quickly as new units come on line.

“This neighborhood has reached a pivotal milestone in the growth of the community,” stated 19th Ward Alderman Michael McMillan. “With Blumeyer residents moving into the newly developed Renaissance Place at Grand, this neighborhood that was once home to dilapidated buildings has now been reborn. And this rebirth has brought about a new sense of hope, prosperity and pride.”

“We are very pleased with the progression of the Blumeyer HOPE VI revitalization,” stated Sal Martinez, Chairman of the St. Louis Housing Authority.

At 10 a.m. today (Feb. 24) a groundbreaking ceremony will be held to mark the beginning of construction for two elderly residential buildings to be named Senior Living at Renaissance Place and the Gardens at Renaissance Place as part of the Blumeyer Hope VI project.
