AT&T is helping fill the growing need for emergency medical technicians in Missouri and nationally with academic financial support.
The Lincoln University of Jefferson City fall cohort of the EMT certificate program has their tuition covered through a $22,000 grant from the AT&T Scholarship Fund. The support is valued at $1,600 per student.
The EMT certificate program is offered through Lincoln University’s Security Sciences Institute (SSI), which prepares students for public safety and security challenges.
SSI provides online and hybrid certificate programs in EMT, cybersecurity, GIS and mental health for first responders, and helps create pathways to careers in emergency services, law enforcement, healthcare and the security industry.
Lincoln’s EMT certificate program is designed as a hybrid model that can be completed in two semesters. The first semester focuses on academic coursework, while the second emphasizes clinical, direct training.
The program satisfies all state requirements for initial EMT certification or the mandatory two-year recertification of existing credentials, making it accessible both to aspiring first responders and to current medical assistants or technicians seeking advancement.
Demand for skilled EMTs continues to grow nationwide. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of EMTs is projected to increase 6% between 2023 and 2033 — faster than the average for all occupations.
This growth is driven by several factors, including an aging population, increasing demand for emergency care in rural areas and the need to replace workers leaving the field.
By covering tuition costs for the Fall 2025 cohort, the AT&T Scholarship Fund is helping Lincoln University address this workforce need while expanding access to high-quality training.
