Cbabi Bayoc, of Bayoc Studio, is opening a new space at the E-zone at Meramec and Virginia, 3301 Meramec. Bayoc Studio will have a small retail gallery with select paintings and a full portfolio to browse. In addition, the artist will have private space on site to work and train students.

“The buildings here are very conducive to a live-work environment and affordably priced compared to other areas,” Bayoc said. “There are some beautiful spaces I hope to work with.”

In 1995, Bayoc received his bachelor of arts from Grambling State University. Since that time, Bayoc, whose works largely depict African-American musicality, has created a career and a name for himself. Various musicians have used Bayoc’s work on album covers and in music videos. Along with his caricatures, his illustration work has been commissioned by Coca-Cola, Anheuser-Busch, and SIDS Resource.

Bayoc’s clientele list has grown to include Prince, Erykah Badu, Coca Cola USA, Violator Records, Island-Def Jam, among others.

“We are very excited to have C’BABI as a tenant in our building. We hope this is the beginning of more artists coming to find a home in Downtown Dutchtown,” said John Chen.

The Bayoc Studio in the E-Zone at Meramec and Virginia, is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Other hours are by appointment. Bayoc can be reached for appointments at (314) 452-8339.
