A group of area Girl Scouts, ages 11 to 17, recently participated in the program Making CENTS in the City at the Millennium Hotel in Downtown St. Louis.
Making CENTS in the City focuses on building awareness, knowledge and confidence in the world of finance and money management. The event is part of a three-year relationship with Citigroup St. Louis and is supported by a grant from the Citigroup Foundation.
Girls participated in interactive activities and hands-on simulations. Activities
included:
??Cost of Cool – designed to show girls they can be “cool” and stay in style
without breaking the bank. Girls learned important lessons on budgeting, needs vs. wants and getting the look for less.
??Get your Head in the Game – girls “played the market” and enhanced their
knowledge in stocks, bonds and investing during this interactive stock
simulation.
??Know the SCORE – Citigroup experts shared their expertise in identity theft prevention, good debt vs. bad debt and credit scores.
??The Game of Life – girls explored banking and budgeting basics with a set
career, salary, choice of living situation and more.
