Last week Express Scripts announced it had decided to build its new prescription fulfillment center at NorthPark in St. Louis County, near its corporate headquarters.
The $74 million, 12-acre facility will create approximately 270 jobs and add substantial investment to the County’s tax base.
Bucks County, PA, a suburb of Philadelphia, was also competing for the high-volume filler pharmacy.
This expansion is the company’s third new building since relocating its headquarters to the campus of the University of Missouri-St. Louis in 2007.
“Express Scripts’ presence at NorthPark will help to further attract additional investment to its 550-acre business park,” said St. Louis County Executive Charlie A. Dooley.
The construction of the building is under way and is scheduled for completion in April 2010. When completed, its pharmacy automation will enable the dispensing, packaging and shipment of 110,000 prescriptions per day.
