Thomas Morgan III, a St. Louis native and retired New York Times reporter who served as president of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) died at age 56.
Morgan, who suffered with AIDS, died of a heart attack Monday (Dec. 24, 2007) while visiting Southampton, Mass. He was 56.
Morgan attended the University of Missouri on a ROTC scholarship, and served two years as an Air Force officer. He began his journalism career with The Miami Herald in 1975. During his career, he was inducted into the National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association’s (NLGJA) Hall of Fame.
