The Boys’ Club of St. Louis is being renamed Gene Slay’s Boys’ Club of St. Louis Inc. in honor of Slay’s longtime service to the organization.
The club, which is 77 years old, is located at 2524 South 11th Street and serves 5,500 youngsters, many of them African American, through an endowment fund.
Slay has helped build that fund to $4.4 million, has been on the club’s board for 33 years and is in his 14th year as president.
