The Urban League will accept applications for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on October 1- 3 for elderly and/or disabled households only, and on November 3 – 5 for all other households, at the Emerson Performance Center Gymnasium on the campus of Harris-Stowe State University.
Residents may apply by mail, fax or in person. Residents may mail their completed applications to Urban League LIHEAP, 3701 Grandel Square, St. Louis, MO 63108 or fax them to 314-531-7462 (mail or fax preferred).Â
Applications are also available online at ulstl.org or at http://www.dss.mo.gov/fsd/liheap.htm. Residents may apply in person at the Urban League Community Outreach Center located at 935 N. Vandeventer, Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon (except during Harris-Stowe intake dates, Oct. 1-3 and Nov. 3-5). Â
To apply, applicants will need to provide copies of social security cards, proof of income (for the prior month) and current gas and/or electric bills. Eligibility for LIHEAP is based on income, family size and availability of funds. Â
In 2014 Urban League LIHEAP was able to assist over 20,000 families with energy assistance and made almost $6.9 million in energy assistance pledges. The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is designed to assist low income families living in St. Louis City or Wellston with their gas and/or electric bills.Â
