St. Louis-based Kwame Building Group will serve as owner’s representative and construction manager on a $4 million expansion and renovation of the Charles Drew Health Center in Omaha, Neb. The 13,574-square-foot project is scheduled to be complete next summer.
Founded in 1983, The Charles Drew Health Center was the first urban federally funded community health care, providing health care to low-income residents in northern Omaha. Approximately 78 percent of the center’s clientele are below the federal poverty level and 20 percent have family incomes of less than half of the federal poverty level.
“We are very pleased to be part of this much-needed expansion,” said Tony Thompson, president and CEO of KWAME. “Many more Omaha residents will receive the quality medical care they need at this upgraded, state-of-the-art facility.”
