Las Vegas n Showroom Shine Detailing n owned by local entrepreneurs Sylvester Chisom and Arthur Shivers n was awarded a 2008 Hoodie Award at the 6th annual Steve Harvey Hoodie Awards, held recently in Las Vegas.
Showroom Shine (located at 6114 Bermuda Dr.) made their second appearance at the Hoodies and shined by bringing home the award this year in their category, Best Detail Shop.
“This award is truly a blessing,” Chisom said.
“It’s the result of support from a loyal customer base and a hardworking, dedicated staff.”
The awards show n hosted by Steve Harvey, of the nationally syndicated Steve Harvey Morning Show n honors local business establishments, religious and community leaders, churches and high schools for their excellence in business and their contributions to the community.
The 2008 awards show, best described as the “Urban Oscars,” featured appearances and performances by Pattie Labelle, Cedric The Entertainer, Kirk Franklin, Jennifer Hudson, Eric Benet, Terrance and Rocsi from 106th and Park. This diverse group of celebrities presented the awards and entertained an audience of nearly 10,000 people.
Showroom Shine’s owners, Sylvester Chisom and Arthur Shivers, were presented their award by comedian George Wallace, gospel legend Kirk Franklin and co-host of The Steve Harvey Morning Show, Nephew Tommy.
“It was a great accomplishment when we received the award n and a great surprise when fellow St. Louis native, Cedric The Entertainer, rushed from backstage and interrupted the show to congratulate us!” Shivers said.
“It was cool that Ced showed us that kind of love!”
The 6th Annual Hoodie Awards Weekend featured a host of events: an all White Party with performances by Doug E. Fresh, Eric Benet and Dwele; the Afterparty; and a Celebrity Golf Tournament.
