Workforce will be diverse

As Lumiere Place moves closer to completion, Pinnacle is already beginning the staffing process for the $ 495 million dollar casino and hotel complex.

Lumiere Place recently held its first job fair to begin staffing the downtown entertainment center on Laclede’s Landing and Mac Carheel, Lumiere Place director of talent sourcing and staffing aid more than 1,400 people were interviewed “in just a few hours.”

“We are pleased to have received such a tremendous response,” he said.

“We are eager to begin hiring from such a diverse, talented and skilled workforce for Lumiere Place.”

Lumiere Place and the St. Louis Agency on Training and Employment (SLATE) partnered for the event at St. Louis Community College at Forest Park.

Pinnacle is hiring for all positions including casino operations, food and beverage, hotel, retail, IT, building & grounds, security and other customer service related positions.

The job fair also offered a twist in the basic job application process. Job seekers did not need a resume.

They were asked to apply electronically on site, and then meet with recruiters.

Like many jobs in the gaming and hospitality industry, Lumiere Place offers competitive pay, medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), plus paid time off and tuition reimbursement.

Pinnacle’s downtown St. Louis project will create up to 1,500 jobs in the entertainment district.

“We will soon be one of the largest employers in the area. We are excited to create more than 1,000 new jobs at Lumiere Place,” Carheel said.

Pinnacle recently began renovation of its former Embassy Suites hotel, including construction of a sky bridge connecting the facility to the casino at Lumiere Place. Upon completion, including the 200-guestroom luxury hotel currently under construction above the casino, there will be 497 guestrooms at Lumiere Place. The complex will offer approximately 2,000 slot machines and 48 table games, a poker room with an additional 13 gaming tables, a luxury spa, several restaurants and approximately 12,000 square feet of meeting and convention space.

Progress on River City

Pinnacle’s River City project in south St. Louis County is progressing and will ultimately create more than 7,000 jobs.

Overlooking the Mississippi River, the site is at the confluence of the Mississippi and the River Des Peres.

The $375 million project broke ground in November 2005 and will include a large casino with 3,000 slot machines and 60 table games, a 100-guestroom hotel, full-service spa, restaurants, a boutique bowling alley, a multiplex movie theatre, an indoor ice rink, a public park with athletic fields and a hatch-shell music and entertainment venue. The project has an expected opening date in the first half of 2009.

There will also be a $4 million Community Aquatic Center, a pedestrian/biking path along Mississippi River and a 5,200 parking space garage.
