The black man who is chief spokesman for McDonald’s is moving up its corporate ladder.
McDonald’s USA recently promoted William (Bill) Whitman, Jr. to vice president, U.S. Communications.
In his new role, Whitman will report directly to Don Thompson, President, McDonald’s USA.
He will oversee management communications, internal and external Communications, media relations, public affairs and stakeholder engagement and continue to serve as the chief spokesman for the company.
A graduate of Southern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Fine Arts and Communications, Whitman’s 20 years of experience include management roles with Exxon Corporation, Fleishman- Hillard International Communications, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and the United Way.
As a member of McDonald’s U.S. Executive Leadership Team, Whitman will work closely with McDonald’s U.S. and Senior leadership, franchisees, suppliers and other key stakeholders to define communications strategies.
