Mike Shannon’s partners with Kwame mentoring program

Mike Shannon’s Steak and Seafood is now partnering with the Gentlemen’s Club at Carnahan High School of the Future, a St. Louis public school.

Shannon’s prepares 25 to 30 lunches bi-weekly for the Gentlemen’s Club, a male youth group developed three years ago by the Kwame Foundation to provide mentorship and teach leadership skills to young African-American men.

“When Tony Thompson of Kwame Building Group came to us, we were ecstatic to be involved,” said Shannon’s General Manager Gary VanMatre.

The bi-weekly club meetings are staffed by employees of Kwame Building Group and the school’s attendance officer Charlie Bean.

Kwame Building Group is a pure program and construction management firm and a minority business enterprise headquartered in St. Louis.
