With National Tourism Week approaching, the Missouri Division of Tourism encourages travelers to explore the myriad travel and tourism opportunities in Missouri and to consider the economic, social and cultural implications of tourism. This year, the Travel Industry Association of America will celebrate its 24th Annual National Tourism Week May 12-20 with the theme, “Travel & Tourism: America’s Front Door.”

Travel and tourism is a $13-billion industry in Missouri and employs 289,193 residents statewide.

In 2006, tourism was responsible for drawing approximately 37 million visitors to the state and generating a record $382.9 million in state sales revenues.
